PHILIPPINES

In 2014 EWB partnered with the Sextant Foundation and Project Hope to help with a three-year program to improve community access to quality health care to the people of the Philippines. Project Hope’s ambitious program includes repairing and upgrading rural health units in the Camotes Islands for which EWB was charged to develop an action plan.

After just one month in Cebu, EWB founder Jeff Rodriguez returned to the U.S. with an action plan that included electrical and water purification systems supported by the readily accessible and sustainable use of solar power all possible with an almost entirely native workforce and local materials.

Beyond that, with Jeff’s help and direction, local electricians and handymen installed new rainwater capture systems with a complementing solar powered water purification systems and a much needed lights over the birthing tables in the health centers.
