A Glass of Water Brings Tears of Joy in the Philippines

One of the components of our project in the Philippines was to install water filtration systems at the health centers. After installing the system at the one of the sites Jeff was walking through with the midwife that runs the center explaining the new systems that had been put in place.

As he was explaining the new filtration system he turned on the faucet and filled a glass with water. As he began bringing the glass to his face the midwife gasped and tried to stop him. She warned of the poor water quality and that the water from the pipes was not drinkable. Jeff smiled and took sip out the glass explaining that the new water filtration system made the water from the pipes safe. The midwife began to cry, elated by the news of safe water for the health center and her patients.
